I was somewhat surprised, fifteen minutes ago, to learn that the Campaign to Save Ianto Jones has not only been reported on by the BBC (a rare thing for any fandom-related endeavour), but in fact made it into the top 10 most read articles on the BBC News website. I confess myself impressed.
Not that I think the campaign will do any good - like Russell T Davies has ever given a shit what the fans think - but, since all the money's going to Children In Need, it's at least a nice way to raise some money for charity.
Couple of issues with the article, though: did they have to choose more or less the least flattering picture ever for the article? Could they not have used one of the Children of Earth or season two promo photos, rather than one of him having a breakdown in Cyberwoman? Also, the use of the word "baddies" to describe the 456 (which they misspelt, which is quite impressive with a number) may be accurate but it furthers the worryingly inaccurate perception of Torchwood as a children's show, which it most definitely is not.
To get my opinion out of the way: I was fucking devastated when Ianto died, as he was more or less my favourite television character ever. I have been a part of the Torchwood fandom since a month before the show started airing (and a Doctor Who fan all my life), and as a queer rights/anti-defamation campaigner I was damn happy to see a queer relationship as not only the main relationship on a mainstream TV show but portrayed as something other than either completely heteronormative or miserably dysfunctional. With this death, one of the most visible and positive queer characters on television (who came in at number seven on AfterElton.com's list of the best queer Sci-Fi characters, with Jack as number one) has been dropped, as has one of the most visible and positive queer relationships. Not only was the death a blow for queer representation on TV, it was a cheap ploy for "drama" and "heartbreak" in a series that had quite enough of that, thank you, with two major characters dying at the end of the previous season (and I had plenty to say about that at the time) and the main character having to kill his own grandchild in the next episode. It was both unnecessary and exploitative and it pissed me off majorly. However, I accept that it's the writers' decision to make, not mine or any other fan's, and that caring about a fictional character to that extent is quite stupid.
tl;dr: Ianto is dead, lots of people are sad about it, I am also sad and quite pissed off, but it's not going to change anything as he will stay dead because Uncle Rusty hates the people who have made him rich.

Title: Unrelated Incidents Fandom: Torchwood Pairing: Mostly Suzie Costello/Toshiko Sato Rating: PG-13 Spoilers: Everything involving Suzie. Summary: I did the song drabble meme! Notes: I hate writing drabbles that aren't exactly 100 words but this meme doesn't exactly allow for meticulous re-wording. So they're mostly around 120 words each. None of them are related to each other, by the way.
The Rules: 1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like. 2. Put iTunes or equivalent media player on random. 3. For each song that plays, write something related to the theme you picked inspired by the song. You have only the time frame of the song: no planning beforehand: you start when it starts, and no lingering afterward; once the song is over, you stop writing. (No fair skipping songs either; you have to take what comes by chance!) 4. Do 5 of these, then post.

From your fandom, who would you like to
1. ...have dinner with? Tosh! I think she'd be nice to have an evening out with. <3
2. ...share an apartment with? Ianto, totally. He could clean up after me and make me coffee! YAY.
3. ...be locked in a jail cell with? I'm sure Jack could use his MAJIK TORCHWUD POWARZ to get us out of there. XD
4. ...go camping with? Hunh. Ianto seemed to be the only person who knew what they were doing with tent pegs and whatnot in Countrycide, so probably him. As long as there aren't cannibals. D=
5. ...go on a date with? TOSH. No question. Well. Suzie, actually. If she weren't, uh, dead. =/
What five characters would you want working for you if you were a supervillain plotting world domination? 1. Jack, for experience plus can-charm-anything-out-of-anyone factor. 2. John. Well, hell, he's very good at being an evil bastard. 3. Tosh - super technological genius, plus pretty factor. Mmmm, Tosh. <3 4. Suzie. Psycho but hot and good at planning (They Keep Killing, anyone?) 5. Ianto. Because everyone needs an angsty, ridiculously attractive Welsh teaboy, right?

A'ight, this was posted as a Tamora Pierce fandom meme, but I'm gonna do it for Torchwood instead, since that's my main fandom.
Name six ships you like: 1) Jack/Ianto 2) Tosh/Suzie 3) Jack/John 4) Tosh/Mary 5) Andy/Ianto 6) Jack/"Real" Jack
Three ships you used to like but don’t like anymore: 7) Gwen/Tosh 8) Tosh/Owen 9) Jack/Owen
Three ships in your various fandoms you don’t ship: 10) Jack/Gwen 11) Gwen/Owen 12) Gwen/Ianto
Two ships you are curious about but haven’t actually started shipping: 13) Owen/Ianto 14) Emily/Alice
1. Why do you dislike #11 so much? I have a deep and all-pervading loathing of Gwen, and I don't like Owen much either. Of course, it's a canon ship - gah - and even then it was Gwen being a twat, cheating on her boyfriend, and generally not a healthy relationship in any way at all. Didn't last long, either.
2. Who is someone you know that ships #13? Lady Paperclip! And she writes it brilliantly.
3. What would be your ideal scenario for couple #3? Oooooh, the five years/two weeks they spent trapped in that time loop! "I was a good wife!" There is just so much one can write about those two <3
4. What is your favourite episode/book for #1? Try to pick just one. Ohhh man there are so many! I think...perhaps the retcon scene in "Adam". The forehead kiss is just...beautiful. <3 (HAH I bet everyone thought I was going to choose "Adrift", didn't they? NYERRR.)
5. How long have you been following couple #6? Errr, since the - single D= - episode in which was established as canon and then, tragically, abandoned foreverandever. DDDD=
6. What’s the story with #8? What made you stop liking them/caring? Ack. It's not so much that I actively don't ship them, it's just that it's gotten irritating, now. Especially now they're both dead (*hysterical sobbing* WE MISS YOU TOSH), everyone's doing this "together in death" bollocks. I always felt sorry for Tosh, since Owen was such a bastard to her, and she really needed to get someone who wasn't a) a psychotic alien serial killer or b) a soldier from WWI who was going to die the day they finally got together. See? Poor girl. <3
7. Which ship do you prefer: #2 or #4? Tosh/Suzie, totally! It's my OTP. <3
8. You have the power to make one ship nonexistent. Choose from #10 or #12. JACK/GWEN. SRSLY. It's played up FAR TOO MUCH in the show which gets in the way both of Jack/Ianto and also of RHYYYYYSSSS who we love so much omg. <3 Stupid Gwen. NO-ONE LOVES YOU except your poor long-suffering husband. D=
9. What interests you about #14? SEXY VICTORIAN ALIEN-HUNTING LESBIANS. What's not to like? =D
10. When did you stop liking #7? My growing hatred for Gwen, and I realised I could pair Tosh with Suzie and still have the wonderfulness of femmeslash and the wonderfulness of Tosh without the annoyingness of Gwen. XD
11. Did your waning interest in #9 kill your interest in the fandom? Not at all! I never shipped it that much and my god as long as Jack/Ianto lives I will NEVER leave this fandom.
12. What’s a song that reminds you of #5? I don't really have any, I suppose. It'd be a song about...I dunno, being brilliant but ignored by people you know, being unappreciated...I'm not sure if I've got anything like that.
13. Which of these ships do you love the most? Suzie/Tosh is my OTP, but Jack/Ianto is a) canon and b) the one I read the most and c) far more realistic. XD
14. Which do you dislike the most? Jack/Gwen *grr*
15. If you could have any of these two pairings double-date, who would it be? Jack/Ianto and Tosh/Suzie, totally! Torchwood team outing...just, y'know, without Owen? XD
16. Have #2 kissed yet? Elaborate if you’d like. *whine* NO. Canon sort of establishes that ship as impossible, what with Mary being Tosh's "first lesbian shag" (yes, that's a direct quote), but NEVERTHELESS I MAINTAIN THEY HAD KINKY LESBIAN SEXINGS. Because godDAMN that would be hot. =DDD
17. Did #4 have a happy ending? If the show hasn’t ended yet, do you think a happy ending is likely? Hahahahaha, no! O HAI TOSH I'M A SEXY ALIEN LESBIAN COME TO SEDUCE YOU INTO GETTING ME INTO TORCHWOOD SO I CAN GO HOME OH ALSO DID I MENTION I'M A SERIAL KILLER WHO WOULD LIKE TO EAT YOUR HEART? =B
18. What would make you start shipping #14? More screentime with those two, man! Torchwood 1900s here I come!
19. If only one could happen, which would you prefer — #2 or #6? TOTALLY TOSH/SUZIE. Hottest thing ever omg. <3
20. You have the power to decide the fate of #10. What happens to them? Gwen dies a painful, humiliating and length death. Jack shrugs, recruits Martha, and goes off to shag Ianto in the archives. =3

OH MANS. How long has it been since I posted anything substantial in here? Like, anything other than memes and idiocy?
*checks*
DECEMBER 22ND. DECEMBER THE TWENTY MOTHERFUCKING SECOND.
Jesus Christ.
OKAY. Life update!
I did...alright on my January modules. Got an A in Sociology and a high B in Psychology. Not bad. Got a C in my English Language coursework, cementing the fact that I HATE that fucking subject. And no comments about the people who teach it me. I mean, right - the other group (there are two) have different teachers and everyone in that group LOVES the subject, thinks it's the best thing since sliced cheese. And we've got the teachers we have and everyone in our group hates it. What gives?
So, that aside. I am now single (D=) but we're on good terms at the moment so, I dunno, that's both bad and good. I don't know. It's bad when we're together but she's so miserable she won't even look at me, but it's also a bit bad when we're not together - so I'm miserable - but we can actually have a conversation. I dunno. Anyway, we're gonna meet up at some point in the holiday. I need to giver her Coraline back (OMG SO AMAZING I LOVE THAT BOOK SRSLY.), and also I just like seeing her. XD
Talking of seeing - haha - we're getting every sodding window in the ENTIRE HOUSE replaced. Oh godddds. Which means I've got to move everything away from the windows in both of my rooms, which is going to be a NIGHTMARE.
Oh, that reminds me! NEW COMPUTER! Yeah, the old desktop finally keeled over when the graphics card went, and we figured it was a better idea just to buy a new one instead of shelling out for a new graphics card PLUS the RAM and other stuff the old one needed. So, shiny new computer! It's an Acer - like my laptop - and graphite-coloured and very pretty. I've now got hacks of Photoshop CS3 and Sibelius 4 (I've stuck with 4 because the opening music is pretty SHUT UP XD) which ACTUALLY RUN ON THIS COMPUTER omg. I'm still getting used to not having to shut down every other program when I want to use Photoshop. =D
The new one's called Baldr. God of resurrection and so on, haha. <3
Although I'm pretty sure Weapon of Mass Datastorage never came into contact with mistletoe. XD
So, yes. Back to the windows. We've dismantled my desk - the one my father built for me about seven, eight years ago out of wardrobe doors, haha - because, frankly, it was nothing more than yet another surface to put shit on, as is pretty much any piece of furniture in my room, including the bed, sofa and, er, floor. Oh dear. So we got rid of that, and I've hoovered the floor (oh my god so much hair ugh *shudder*), so that half of my room's looking a lot cleaner. Something of a relief, I feel.
Let's see. What else?
The hunt for a new dog isn't really progressing. We keep going "Oh, we must go down to the RSPCA shelter..." and then forgetting. But I think we're going on Friday, which is good. There was a BEAUTIFUL Lurcher there the time I went with my mother, called...Ella, I think. She was gorgeous. But the turnover is so quick there, there wasn't a hope of us getting her. The problem is, whenever we go all the cute ones are reserved already, haha. But I refuse even to consider getting another pedigree, considering both the price - oh dear GODS - and the problems with inbreeding, which was what gave Lucy her dicky heart in the first place. Also, I want to call the new dog Wagner, if it doesn't already have a name. This is not a negotiable point.
Negotiating...that makes me think of West Wing, and in the sphere of TV programs I waste my life watching is TORCHWOOD oh my merciful gods! So...much...Jack/Ianto. Seriously! Never thought I'd see the day and it is a BEAUTIFUL day oh yes. Ahem. I mean, not that I'm attracted to either of them in the proper sense but, well, aesthetic appreciation, yeah? Plus, a gay main couple - the sodding protagonist of the show! - on a mainstream TV show. That is SO SIGNIFICANT and so wonderful. Really makes me happy. =D
(Of course, I'd be even happier if it were, y'know, Tosh and not-dead Suzie. But one can only dream...)
I'm a wee bit worried about Ianto's, um, wellbeing in the series finale, though. I mean, we know that he doesn't DIE - or, at least, I hope not - because Gareth David-Lloyd has confirmed that Ianto will return for season 3. But still - all we see of him in the preview is some kind of explosion behind him and him falling forwards. Not encouraging. I really, REALLY hope Tosh gets out unscathed because, well, we all know how much I love Tosh. Toshhhhh~ I don't care if Owen dies. I think he'd be the one most likely to who I actually want to die? I mean, if he was actually decapitated or recieved some sort of serious head trauma then I think he'd be down permenantly, yeah? Or they could euthanise him with formalyehyde if he got too badly hurt. I mean, I don't hate him enough really to wish him dead with the same fervour that I want Gwen dead, mutilated and her grave danced upon by Weevils, but I wouldn't be upset if he died. I would be DEVASTATED if Ianto died, or Tosh. Jack can't die, of course, and they won't kill Gwen because she's - sigh - the female lead. Unfortunately.
I'm a bit sad at the lack of lesbians in this season. I mean, there was Tosh and Mary in S1, plus that Gwen-and-Carys bit of eyecandy, but there's been literally nothing in S2. Which, well, miffs me a little because it's not equality if it's not chicks too. I'm PHENOMENALLY happy to see a gay couple as the main couple in a mainstream TV show but they've exchanged that for, really, any other queer content in the show. At least, that I can think of.
SO. What else, in my mess of a life?
Er.
Music-wise! That's a good thing to talk about, I think.
Had my Grade 7 Singing exam a couple of weeks back, and I actually think it went really well. That's pretty much a first for me, as I generally come out of music exams going "OH GODS KILL ME NOW". But no, I think it went well, especially since the sight singing was PISS EASY and that was the bit I was really worried about. So that's okay then.
Bands I'm enjoying right now - ALESTORM oh wowww they are so amazing! Scottish fucking Pirate Metal! Like Turisas. From Scotland. For Jack Sparrow. SERIOUSLY. They are sodding incredible. Check 'em out, seriously.
Aaalso. I've been listening to the Sweeney Todd soundtrack a lot recently. Yeah, yeah, I know, Tim Burton wankery, but I really enjoy bits of it, MMKAY? Sondheim's actually a very good composer, especially with songs like "A Little Priest" and "Pretty Women" - which is a WONDERFUL duet even if Alan Rickman does have the most bizarre, swallowed voice ever. Not to say that it's BAD, exactly, just...odd. Haha. XD
However, the girl who plays Johanna can NOT sing. She is utterly dreadful. Screeching sodding banshee. I have no idea why she was cast, given that the rest of the cast - big-name parts and unknowns alike - actually have surprisingly good sets of pipes on 'em. I mean, Helena Bonham Carter slips into breathiness occasionally but can be wonderful when she's doing well. The kid who plays Toby is pretty good, and I'm more impressed with Johnny Depp than I thought I'd be. Sacha Baron Cohen's falsetto is, frankly, legendary. XD
I've also gotten back into Ensiferum's glorious Victory Songs. I went through an infatuation with it when it first came out and had to force myself to stop listening to it for days on end lest I get really sick of it, but I've sunk back into screaming out the chorus to "Blood is the Price of Glory" again. Not that that's a bad thing or anything. =DD
What else?
Does anything interesting happen in my life?
Probably not.
Oh, I've gotten into papercrafts! Yeah, god, I know, so geeky. But I've made a papercraft N64 logo, and I've got templates for all sorts of things, like a Weighted Companion Cube (on that note, I CRIED when I had to incinerate mine, and still tear up thinking about it *sob*), a Gun Turret from Portal (DEAR GODS their voices are creepy), Kirby, Hello Kitty, the Triforce, a Wii and a SNES. Pretty spiffy.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll think of more things to say at some point but I expect I'll be booted upstairs soon.
So - ciao, motherfuckers.

OH DEAR GODS NO.
Why. WHY???
*headdesk*
GODDAMMIT RUSTY. You give us the worst companion ever - and I mean, worse than Peri worst - and then you BRING HER BACK?
Oh gods.
I HATE ROSE SO MUCH. SO VERYVERY MUCH.
Why have they not brought back the GOOD companions? Like Romana? Nyssa? Leela? ADRIC, even?
WHAT ABOUT JAMIE? *sob*
FUCKITY FUCK.
Rose is just so ANNOYING. Whiny and incompetent and stupid and BLONDE and chavvy and OVER-EMOTIONAL and UGH.
Not to mention badly acted.
And if they continue the TRUU-LUFF-4EVA shit I will fucking kill someone.
HE LOVES THEM ALL, DAMMIT.
And (half-human or not), I can't see him in a long-lasting (or anything LIKE it) relationship with anyone who isn't a Time Lord/Lady. I mean, I'm not a hetshipper (DUH) in the slightest but I'd rather see him with Romana than with a normal human.
(I think Jack's possibly excepted from the 'human' clause, because, well, he's sort of not anymore, is he? Not really. I mean, the Doctor's big issue has always been that he can't spend a significant - to him - amount of time with anyone mortal because their lives are so short compared to his, but that problem's just not there with Jack. And I think they do have an...understanding, shall we say, just because they're both so old, now, and have seen so much and suffered so much. That forms bonds.)
Honestly, I don't think I can see the Doctor with anyone but the Master at this point. They just don't work without each other - I mean, they've said that themselves, haven't they? They need each other on a very deep level, even more so now they're the last Time Lords in existance (oh yeah, like anyone belives the Master's really gone. Come on.)
I'm glad we know that Jack's coming back - from John Barrowman's own mouth have we heard it, so I'm not going to doubt that. And that does make me happy because they have such wonderful banter, aside from anything else. And the Doctor needs someone who won't go away. A part-time companion'll be good for him, I think.
On that note, yay, Martha. <3
I still don't like the Donna thing. I just...she was okay-ish, I suppose, for the Christmas Special, but she's so overpowering. All shout-y and bleh. I don't know how that'll work...they'll have to tone her down to make it work, and then that's betraying the character.
And I don't like Catherine Tate much, anyway. She's not as funny as she/people think she is. The "Am I bovvered?" sketch was really only funny in the slighest the first time, and even then only just. And that Comic Relief skit was rubbish. "Bovveréd," indeed. HONESTLY.
Happy about Martha on Torchwood. Happy about, y'know, more Torchwood in general. VERY happy about more Jack/Ianto on Torchwood. Not so happy about new-female-love-interest-for-Ianto. Not so happy about not the slightest hint of femmeslash yet. Not happy about Gwen still being alive. D=
WHERE'S MYFANWY? DX
Another thing - Martha spent the ENTIRE of Season 29 being made to feel like she was inferior to Rose (which is the biggest bullshit I've ever heard, because Martha actually has a BRAIN. WOWIE.), which was a terrible deal for her and was no doubt part of why she left the TARDIS of her own volition in the end (good girl! Keep your life! Be awesome!). Rose coming back canNOT make that any better and will in fact make it worse. Obviously the Doctor won't be ambivalent towards her return but if they write it in a big DOCTOR/ROSE OTP way I'll be majorly pissed off. That's not fair towards Martha - or Jack, or Donna, or anyone, really - and the last thing the Doctor needs is more emoing when she buggers off again.
Oh ye gods, I hope she gets killed properly this time. I really, really do.
What I don't understand is why the goddamn fandom loves Rose so much. I just don't get it! She had no redeeming qualities - we didn't even get much T&A! - and to be honest I was expecting the whole fandom to rise up in arms against whoever the first companion of the new series was. It just seemed like the sort of thing that'd happen... And yet every single reaction post linked to in who_daily on this whole sordid affair has been "YAY ROSE". And I just don't understand why! How can people not hate this girl? HOW?
...
This cannot end well.
(And why have we not had a Leela-type companion yet, may I ask? We've not had one single 'fighter' companion over three seasons (plus another two confirmed). That's a bit shit, isn't it?)

Five fictional characters that I want on my side when the apocalypse comes.
1. Kadaj (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children) Mother issues aside, as long as he comes with a box of Materia, he can summon up HUGEASS MONSTER THINGS. How is that in any way not useful?
2. Suzie Costello (Torchwood) Fucking, for the purpose of. (Ru~de! ;D) And, um, to complete the psychosis section of the tour.
3. Dr Gregory House (um, House) Because everyone needs snark and a doctor is always useful.
4. Dr James Wilson (also House) Because why have one doctor when you can have two AND UST along with it? I mean, really.
5. Maes Hughes (Fullmetal Alchemist) WELL COME ON PEOPLE. Hughes is super-spiffy awesome Y/Y. And I bet he's a decent shot with a pistol. Maybe Ed's automail would be more useful, strictly speaking, but he's not nearly as fabulous. (Or as camp. =D)

I've not really got time to write this right now - I've got maybe twenty minutes before I get kicked upstairs - but what the hell. I've been wanting to write this con report since Sunday. =D
OMFG. Bad Wolf was brilliant. We left home at 7:30am on Saturday, which is normal time for me during termtime, but in the holidays? Blergh! So, anyway, we listened to the Doctor Who soundtrack in the car - *geekgasm* - and the journey only took about an hour and a half, which is a blessing considering the floods. Ohhh, the floods. We'll get onto those later.
So, we get to the hotel, park the car, get our stuff, and find everyone milling around the entrance. Apparently, there's been a fire alarm go off, and everyone's been evacuated. Bloody hell. Thankfully, it didn't last long and we got inside and got registered soon enough.
So, into the main hall. The con had basically hijacked the whole hotel, which was pretty awesome - no interference from non-Whovians and we got a hugeass business suite for all the functions. Cue "amusing" intro video, and Paul the MC gives us a couple of jokes about the alarm. Lovely jubbly.
First panel: Eric Roberts, a.k.a. The Master from the TV movie. I did rather like the movie and I thought he was a good master - although, of course, not nearly as awesome as John Simm (<33) - but in person oh my god he is odious. Seriously. He's one of those...American actors, all big smiles and calling everyone "bro" or "doll" and urgh. False charisma and crowd-pleasing, and he wasn't very good at the whole interview thing. Kept flashing his eco-credentials and talking about his family. Pshaw.
Next panel: Carol Ann Roberts, who was - of course - Susan in the old series. Oh, she's lovely! And she's really, really tiny - about 5', of her own admission - and interviewed very well, giving wonderful stories about Bill Hartnell deliberately confusing "Fault Locator" with "Fornicator". Some interesting questions, about how the death of JFK affected them on - as it turned out - the first day of filming, and so on. Very good panel.
Third panel: Linda Clark, Amanda Lawrence and Gareth Roberts, otherwise known as Bloodtide, Doomfinger and The Bloke Who Wrote The Shakespeare Code. OMG I loved this panel! Gareth Roberts was really interesting - and I adore his writing - and Amanda and Linda were very sweet. It was very interesting to hear them talk about Rusty, and how people treat him, how he is very much Lord Of All Gallifrey, as it were. Lord President, I suppose. In the nicest possible way, of course, but still - his authority is absolute, but I suppose it would be, given that the show is very much his BAYBEE. Heh.
Didn't go to the third panel, because it was the Hyde Fundraisers and thus a bit boring. So we went to lunch - meatball Subway. Mmmm. - and the merch stalls. I got three autographed pictures from the autograph stall - Cypher from The Matrix, the Fifth Doctor and Tara from Buffy. Eeee! I will frame these and put them on my wall. Dad - oh GOD - got the new bloody Harry bloody Potter, which I absolutely refuse to touch. I've read the plot synopsis on Wikipedia and to be honest I don't give a shit beyond that. Her writing style is just so utterly juvenile and BLERGH. *rage*
Back down after lunch, and they were playing some cool animations, including a very clever one; a portmanteau of all the title sequences, from the very first once up to the most recent, blending together the music and the graphics into one continuous stream from past to present. It was masterfully done and I really hope I can find it on YouTube or something, I really liked it. =D
First panel after lunch was Owen Teale. Gareth Thomas pulled out, apparently, but oh my god Owen Teale was totally the best panel of the whole con! He was - *shudder* - Ewan Sherman The Creepy Cannibal Guy from Countrycide and oh my god he's actually an absolute dear. He told some wonderful stories about acting, including one about John Barrowman's reaction to him showing up all roughed-up and teeth-prosthetic'd. "I like a bit o' rough! Uh, but...not the teeth. >.<" He and the interviewer had a great vibe, and given that they made their way through a bottle of white wine over the course of the interview... Anyway, great stuff. I'll see if I can find a transcript because he was just brilliant.
Next panel was Yasmin Bannerman. Apparently it's her first time doing a con, and she did look a little terrified. She played Jabe from the Forest of Cheem in End of the World, and DCI Kathy Swanson in They Keep Killing, and I must say she was lovely. And, um, really quite gorgeous. *ahem* Nothing incredibly in-depth about the whole Who thing - although she did have some interesting insight about the prosthetics and costuming side of things, i.e. how her prosthetics went from "A little something on the hair" to "Full facial overhaul" - but she was still a dear to listen to. Aww. <3
Last panel of the day: Nick Briggs, in his role as part of Big Finish Audio Productions. I don't listen to the Big Finish plays - always meant to, never found the money - so it wasn't really my area of expertise but he's a very amusing speaker, so it was actually quite entertaining. Most of the audience questions were various people asking about the fates of their favourite non-Who BF plays, which was quite funny if completely off topic.
So, afterwards, we went for dinner, and - given that it was MY BIRTHDAY and everything - dad said I could have whatever I wanted, which was awesome. The restaurant was a carvery, and a very, VERY good one, and then I had a slice of Chocolate Truffle for pudding, which really reminded me of the Orgasm Cake from Matrix Reloaded. XDD (I mean that in a somewhat literal sense. Dude, that was really fucking good cake.)
We went back to my room and watched Jeckyll, which was FANTASTIC - Jimmy Nesbitt was born to play that role, and of course the whole thing is written by Stephen Moffat, who wrote Blink and other shit-your-pants-scary Doctor Who episodes. So. Woooo.
Anyway, in the morning - no fire alarm, this time! - had a nice breakfast, got me face on, briefly got stuck in the lift with the Shakespeare Code witches and K-9 (aww! <33) and headed down to the show.
We're met with notices. Lalla Ward couldn't make it; she was stuck in the floods in Oxfordshire, the poor love. (Of course, she lives in New College - my dad's old college! - with Richard Dawkins - <3333333333333 - so I guess that's logical.) Gareth David-Lloyd hasn't shown up yet and there's no word from him. Bit worried, but we have faith he'll show up eventually. We hope. Please?
So, anyway, first panel of the day: Murray Melvin and Matt Rippy, a.k.a. Bilis Manger (*shudder*) and Real!Cap'n Jack. (<3333) OMG. My second favourite panel, totally. They were amazing! Murray Melvin is - contrary to his character, I might add, who is a demon-worshipping creep - an absolute sweetheart, and Matt Rippy is lovely indeed. The first question he was asked - by the interviewer, no less! - was "Is John Barrowman a good snogger, then?", which had us all in fits. Well, it was certainly at the top of MY mind...XD His response, by the way, was along the lines of "I don't kiss and tell" but, uh, we got the impression that He Certainly Is Very Much Oh Yes Really. And this led to a discussion of Very Awkward Sex Scenes, which was really funny. XD It was wonderful listening to them, seriously - the contrast between the old and the new, the American and the British, the predominantly-theatre and the predominantly-TV. Wonderful, wonderful panel. Someone's put some pics of Matt up on LJ somewhere if you want to find 'em.
Next panel was Nick Briggs - again! - and Elisabeth Fost, who played an Auton in Rose and one of the Slitheen. She was interesting, although being such a minor part wasn't particularly Who-oriented. Nick Briggs really stole the show, this time in his role as Dalek and Cyberman voice-actor. It was BRILLIANT. He talked a lot about doing the Weakest Link special, and just how much of a cow Ann Robinson actually is, and how she made him flirt with her in Dalek voice, which is just creeeeeepy. And he also talked about, oh, getting cramps in his foot during shooting one time, except he was still talking into the Dalek mic, so out of the Dalek comes this "Ooh, argh, my FOOT!". Hee. XD
GDL...was a no-show, as you've probably figured. This was Very Disappointing but I think I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, seeing as half the damn country's underwater and a lot of mobile phone networks are out of action at the moment. There have been an awful lot of fans denouncing him as "unprofessional" and the like and claiming that he got smashed after the James Masters gig on Saturday and thus was too hung over to make it, but I have it from a good source - i.e. a girl in the same bar as he was that night - that he had a quiet drink with his girlfriend (is that still the Carys girl? I think so.) and left quite early. Nyerr. Anyway, I won't condemn him just yet. Still pretty emo, though.
So! Instead of watching what they had instead of his panel, which was some footage from a Blake's 7 con last year - not my fandom - dad and I went to the autographs room, where I got Mary Tamm's and Louise Jameson's autograph. OMFG! Mary complimented me on my eye makeup, which makes me ridiculously happy every time I think of it. Eeeee. I HAVE LEELA'S AUTOGRAPH OH MY GOD. I have such a ridiculously huge crush on her, it's daft. XD
Anyway, after that, went out for lunch - ended up in the Starbucks in Borders in the Bullring, after - FINALLY - getting Nanny Ogg's Cookbook and a Doctor Who book. Nice panini, headed back in time to catch the next panel, which was:
Mary Tamm herself! Romaaaaaaaana. Mm. She was lovely and very articulate and very interesting to listen to, and hearing her talk about Tom Baker and so on was very amusing. XD I do wish Lalla had been there, because I'd have killed to get both of their autographs, and apparently they have a groovy double-act when they go to cons. But oh well, Mary was still lovely on her own.
Wasn't particularly interested in the next panel - Doctor Who Magazine, which is perennially juvenile and sort of irritating - so I went back to the merch stands, got a gorgeous picture from one of the art stands, of portrait pieces of each Doctor. Looovely. And the girl running it was cosplaying the Eighth Doctor! She was kind of cute, too. ;D Also, there was a guy, obviously not a Torchwood fan, who picked up one of the prints - it was based off the Torchwood promo pics, of Jack in the centre, surrounded by headshots of the others - and he was like "Um, this is Torchwood, right? That's...John Barrowman..." and she was like "Yeah, and that's Gareth David-Lloyd, and that's Eve Myles...and I can't remember who the other two are." and I chipped in with "Burn Gorman and Naoko Mori! Um. *geekgeek*" XD
Last panel was Leela Herself, Louise Jameson. Oh, she was lovely. Also there was Clare Clifford, who was...a character in Earthshock, which I've never seen (more shame me, I guess). She was very nice - there was a wonderful moment when they were asked to describe their relative Doctor actors - Baker for Louise, Davidson for Clare - and Clare went first, said "Charming" with a rather amusing smile, and of course all eyes were on Louise because, well, knowing Tom... "Complicated."
XD
Through the two days we'd noticed some characters hanging around, and eventually we figured out it was the Hyde Fundraisers - they'd brought costume actors of a Sycorax, two Scarecrows from Human Nature/Family of Blood, a retro Dalek, a retro Cyberman, two of the Droids from Girl in the Fireplace, an Ogron and a Exxilon. Very cool, although the Ogron told me I should read Harry Potter. >.<
Anyway, drove home quite nicely, got home in time for West Wing - woo! - had birthday cake. Yay!
I'll wait until the guestlist for Bad Wolf 2008 is released, but damn I want to go. XD

Oooooh my gooood!
James Masters has been confirmed as appearing in Torchwood season 2.
OH MY GOD.
I admit, most (if not all) of my James Masters experience was/is Buffy, because I HATED Angel and I don't even know what else he's been in, for chrissake. But I loved him as Spike - and not just because he's my favourite character - and oh my GOD can you IMAGINE the banter between him and Jack?
Fuck yes. <3

The Wombats - The Baa Baa Song
|
Hokay, so.
We all know I hate Gwen Cooper. I mean, it's pretty difficult to find one of Good Ol' Russel T's female protagonists who I don't hate, actually, because they tend to be whiny stupid cows. And ugly, to boot. His secondary characters, however...(*cough*Suzie*cough*Tosh*cough*Mary*cough*) are made of awesome and win.
But something really pissed me off today - and if you've seen me pissed off about fandom, you KNOW how pissed off I can get - and I wanted to bitch about it. In my sad, pathetic tea-boy wet dreams blog which no-one reads.
SEE WUT I DID THAR?
*ahem*
So the Radio Times came today. We get it on subscription - well, it's cheaper and easier than actually going to the shop to buy it - and there is, of course, an interview with John Barrowman (he of Awesome and Win) about Jack's impending return - insert fangirl sqeeing here.
Most of the interview was about Jack as a character, of course, because no-one really cares about actors (except us Gareth David-Lloyd fangirls, of course. Heh, heh, hehh...).
Let's have a quote:
Who will Jack miss most from the Torchwood team? If you're talking personal, Gwen, because he can talk to her. He's teh only one she talks to and they have a relationship that he has with none of the others.
Wait. Wait, what? Gwen is - well, actually, she very much isn't - all very well and good but she's not the one Jack's sleeping with. Okay, so maybe he's sort of obliged to pimp her, as she's the protagonista - *hairrip* - but dear god it's not like she probably even understands half of what he says!
We've had so little canonical evidence of this 'special relationship' - past the first few episodes, there really isn't much of a Jack/Gwen vibe, actually. That sort of surprised me, because after the - brief - kiss in Day One I was very much expecting a long, irritating, drawn-out romance. Instead, we had Stopwatch!Flirting, which was MUCH better.
But, no, really. I see no reason Jack can't talk to Ianto - hey, look, the whole post's been about this character and I've only mentioned his actual name just now! - about...well, whatever he talks to Gwen about. Ianto was just as distraught over Jack's death as Gwen was - and in a considerably less irritating/stalkerish way. He's known Ianto longer, and even if the whole Cyberwoman thing sort of fucked things up for a while, it's obvious that Ianto's regained Jack's trust, even by They Keep Killing - you do not have vaguely kinky sex with someone who you don't trust. Srsly.
And it's not like Jack kissed Gwen when he did his Jesus impression, did he? HMM?!
Sorry, yeah, I know, I sound like even more of a retarded fangirl than usual. But this has gotten my Jack/Ianto-shipping back up, and I really REALLY hope they're not going to abandon the Jack/Ianto plotline in Season 2. That's my big worry, actually, both in Doctor Who Season 29 - LESS THAN A WEEK TO GO OMG - and Torchwood Season 2 - that, for Torchwood, the move to BBC2 will tone down Our Rusty's (Yes, we honestly do call him that. WE LOVE HIM THAT MUCH) fantastic Gay Agenda (I mean, in how many BBC shows do you get sexy lesbian alien serial killers? SERIOUSLY. At least until I start writing 'em. ;)) and that the beautiful Jack/Doctor plotline running through Doctor Who Season 27 and Torchwood Season 1 will be abrubtly cut short as Jack metamorphoses - and, no, really, this is confirmed by JB himself in the very same interview - from the angsty, angry Jack we know and - ostensibly - love from Torchwood into pretty much the same Jack we knew in Doctor Who Season 27.
That, there, is another WTF. Just because he's back on the TARDIS, just because he's found the Doctor again, does NOT mean he's not still got his fair share of angst to hand out. He's immortal. He was left for dead on the Game Station, surrounded by Dalek dust and corpses. He was ABANDONED by the two people he probably cared for most in the Universe. I refuse to believe that he can just switch - like a switchy thing! *hemhem* - back to Flirt-with-everyone-and-never-angst-EVAR Jack.
Nngh.
We'll have to see, I suppose. Obviously JB can't reveal as much as the fangirls want him to, having been sworn to secrecy and all that.
Oh, that reminds me - before Cyberwoman, there was all this speculation about Ianto's mysterious partner - which had been sourced, AGAIN, from a Radio Times interview. It was quite funny, actually, because this was before the episode preview had come out - in fact, the episode was still officially called The Trouble With Lisa (and you can tell I've been in this fandom a long time, can't you?) and we were wondering, well, why the hell CAN'T he say anything about it? IS IT A GUY?! - yes, that really was our most pressing concern. Heh.
Aww. I do feel sorry for Lisa, partly because of her ridiculous - RIDICULOUS, I SAY - costume, but mostly because she did have a shitty deal, didn't she?
Costume-wise, though; Even as a dyke - and, yes, I really DID appreciate the metal bikini thing, and I can happily - gaily! *snigger* - admit to that - I can probably say I'd rather she had a more, y'know, realistic costume. The Cybermen don't have sex drives. No, really. Someone ranted about this on canon_rants before, ages ago, but still - come ON. High-heeled shoes?
Blegh.
I hate heels. And I don't think the Cybermen think they're particularly practical, either.
Oh, bollocks to this. I'm done. MOOSE THE CRIPPLE FANGIRL OUT.

O LOOK ANOTHER ONE. Actually, I haven't done any memes in a while because I haven't seen any. Very odd.
So, the idea is that you put your iTunes - or whatever - on shuffle and write drabbles based on the titles of the first five songs that come up. Which I've done. I don't know if you're supposed to write 'em in one fandom or not but I've done five different ones so BOO SUCKS TO YOU, I suppose.
Anyway.
I quite like some of these. I like the Torchwood one and the Good Omens one, and I quite like the Angel Sanctuary one and Discworld one. I don't like the Metalocalypse one, because when you get Manowar AND Metalocalypse you HAVE to write funny. And I can't write funny to save my life. But oh well.
Can't believe I didn't get one extreme metal band in the whole thing, though. Very disappointed. D=

Golden Sun - Altin Caves

I'm bored and my computer is being very slow, but I don't dare restart it in case it gets stuck again.
Booh.
Also: FMA 5 arrived! So did my hat, but it's TOO FUCKING SMALL. I am very, very pissed off about this. So we're going to rent one from Benets, which means I have to go down there tomorrow so they can, uh, measure my head.
Yeeeah.
I dunno. I just feel weird today. It's probably because I'm bone-shatteringly tired, and my knee feels like it's on fire, and my wrist's been bad today as well. The internet's crawling - I might reset it later, actually - and I don't know, things just feel...odd. I'm so TIRED and I have no idea why because I've gotten more sleep this week than I have in the past two - no late-night coursework sessions, and for some reason I seem to be sleeping a little better, which is encouraging - but I'm SO FUCKING TIRED it's not even funny. It's ridiculous, I swear.
Got my hair cut yesterday. Only a couple of inches off the bottom, just to get rid of the split ends. It looks and feels nice, but of course it won't last. I'll be back to skanky hair in no time, just you wait.
Carri's coming over on Sunday. And, of course, I'm ecstatic - any time with her is good - but nevertheless it's causing me more angst than I'd like. Given our history, every time I talk to her I keep expecting a "Sorry, but I can't come...", or similar. And I know it's not particularly nice to expect that but judging from past experience... Still, she doesn't seem to have pulled out this time, so I'm happy.
Had a long talk with Alex Bowden during free period today. Mrs Flewitt was teaching an English class in the library so I couldn't use the computers like I usually would, so we ended up sitting on the beanbags at the back of the fiction section and talking about stuff. Mostly getting drunk, accidental sex and drugs. But I suppose that's what 'normal' teenage girls think about these days. I really wouldn't know.
I don't have much to talk about. Either that or apathy has finally gotten to me, in which case there's no point in me talking at all. I just...I don't know. There doesn't seem to be much point to anything at the moment. Everything's disappointing, or irritating, or just plain bad, or so it seems. Even the good stuff either doesn't last or brings more negativity with it. Don't worry - as if you would - I'm not sinking into the pathetic morass of scene melodrama that 'normal teenagers' are so prone to, I'm just in an odd place at the moment and not sure how to get out of it.
In other news? I've found a couple of new webcomics. I'm still working my way through the archive of the second one. It's called Darken and I'm really enjoying it, actually. The characters are very endearing - there's a lot of RPG influence, particularly D&D and so on, and they're sort of based off Fighter, Thief, and so on, but they have wonderful characters. Not to mention that there are two rather attractive girls in it, so who am I to complain?
Haha, no, of course I don't judge things based solely on how many hot chicks are included. It's not even a deciding factor.
...
Usually.
Anyway. See, this is the kind of thing I end up talking about when I'm really out of ideas, because I feel the need to write something after not updating for a while. I mean, it's not like anyone reads this, so I don't know who I'm trying to please, but never mind.
Doctor Who's on in three quarters of an hour. I've seen this one already, but I'll probably watch it again. To be honest, I'm mostly killing time until Episode 11, because as much as I love the Doctor - and I do love the Tenth Doctor, quite a lot actually - and I certainly don't hate Martha - ahem - but Jack...well, he's special, isn't he? And I'm desparate to know what's going to happen when he gets into the TARDIS, especially whether he'll recognise the Doctor now he's regenerated, and just what his whole reactions's going to be to the whole 'No Rose, new companion, now what?' thing. I mean, I'm certainly not Rose's biggest fan - ha. ha. ha. - but there's no denying that Jack cared for her a lot - platonically in my view, not in the view of what seems like HALF THE FUCKING FANDOM - so his reaction to Rose being in the other universe will be...interesting.
Still can't wait for Torchwood Season Two, though. And that's not going to happen until next YEAR, which is just awful. I'm more interested in Ianto's reaction to Jack's return than anything else, to be honest. I mean, my huge - HUGE - love for Tosh nonwithstanding, and since Suzie's dead I can't exactly cite her, but Ianto is a wonderful, wonderful character and since Gareth David-Lloyd has said that Season Two will focus more on Ianto's character and character development, I think we're going to have more Jack/Ianto goodness.
Hehh, everything comes back to fandom.
Whatever.

Keep of Kalessin - Crown of the Kings
|
So, my dad's been going on about how there are 'too many gay people' in Torchwood (and, I suppose, by extention, in the world in general.). Now, as far as I'm concerned, there can't be enough gay people in Torchwood (or anywhere), and given the absolute dearth of good canon - or otherwise - femmeslash in other fandoms, I'm obscenely joyful to find some here. ALIEN LESBIANS FTW.
But, inspired by queer_rage (which is a bloody awesome LJ comm, btw), and my own fandom-induced insanity, I've decided to go through EVERY canon pairing in Torchwood and then calculate the imbalance between gay and straight, thus proving that there are considerably more straight (booh!) couples in the show.
Episode-by-episode, and this is going to take fucking forever, isn't it? Howell. By canon, by the way, I mean a pairing where there is definitely either proper flirting, a proven attraction on either side, or actual nookie going on. Righty-ho.
Episode One - Everything Changes Gwen/Rhys - Het Owen/Linda - Het Owen/Conlin - Gay Linda/Conlin - Het Jack/Ianto - Gay
Episode Two - Day One Carys/Gwen - Gay Carys/Owen - Het Carys/The other ten guys or so she kills - Het x 10 Carys/Jack - Het
Episode Three - Ghost Machine Ed/Lizzie - Het
Episode Four - Cyberwoman Ianto/Lisa - Het Gwen/Owen - Het
Episode Five - Small Worlds Jack/Estelle - Het Jasmine's mother/Jasmine's stepfather - Het The creepy paedo guy/Jasmine - Het
Episode Six - Countrycide Ewan the Cannibal/Helen the Cannibal - Het
Episode Seven - Greeks Bearing Gifts Tosh/Owen - Het Tosh/Mary - Gay Mary/The Noncy Whore-hating Soldier - Het Neil/Carol - Het Carol/Lawrence - Het
Episode Eight - They Keep Killing Suzie/Owen - Het Jack/Detective Kathy - Het Suzie/Gwen - Gay
Episode Nine - Random Shoes Eugene/Gwen - Het
Episode Ten - Out of Time Diane/Owen - Het
Episode Eleven - Combat
Episode Twelve - Captain Jack Harkness Real!Jack/Jack - Gay Real!Jack/Nancy - Het
Episode Thirteen - End of Days Gwen/Jack - Het
That's all the ones I can think of, off the top of my head. Let's total 'em up, shall we?
Het total - 32 - 84% Gay total - 6 - 16%
Well then.
MOOSE WINS.
(There should still be more lesbians. =D)

In other news: What the FUCK. They're not selling day-tickets for Download 2007? THE FUCK?! The one year there's only one day I want to go to - Sunday, because OMGMAIDENSQUEE - and they don't sell fucking day tickets.
FUCK.
BUT OMG I might be going - maybe, maybe - to WACKEN. EEE.
*faints from joy*
ANYWAY.
RE coursework = TEH SUCK. Stupid Jeebus. Stupid L00k. Rrr. Also Fi lost like all my preparatory work for my ICT Terminal Task, which is like A WHOLE MONTH'S WORK 'cause she pulled out my memory stick while I was saving and it was like - BAHLEEEEEET. ALLGONE.
Whore. >.<
So I have no fucking idea what I'm gonna do, now. I'm fucked.
Bah.
ANYWAY. Manga in the post right now - Death Note Volume 10 - EEEEE - and Wild Adapter volume 1 and Bus Gamer 1999-2001 volume 1. Those last two are Minekura mangas, and if they're half as good as Saiyuki I will be very, very happy. Especially with her usual yaoi overtones. Mmmm, subtext.
Damn, I want Reclaiming Camelot to update and finish so I can rec it. Because it's very awesome. Mm. And dead!Gwen is always good. XD Tosh is so sweet. And hot. BUT NOT AS HOT AS SUZIE. Mm, necrophilia. XD
Also ordered Breed 77 - En Mi Sangre. I really wanted to get The Power Cosmic as well - because, yeah, OMGBAL-SAGOTH - but it was like a tenner and I really can't afford that right now. Since the last time I ordered it for about a fiver and then they were like 'yeah, that's our last copy, and it's all scratched and shit'. So it's expensive so I'll have to wait until I get more money or it gets cheaper.
I WANT MY METAL, DAMMIT. DDDD=
BUT The Ultimate Matrix came today, which is cool. 10 DVDs for a fiver. YAY. And Gravitation Ex is in the post as well.
Lotsofmanga. Yay.
What else...?
Handed in my AS options sheet today. Music, English Language, Psychology and Sociology. Had an argument with my parents, who want me to take Biology. In two words: Fuck. That. It's not like I actually need anything besides Music - as long as I get good grades in the others, who cares? Everything else is sort of peripheral. And I don't need to go to university, either - I probably will, because it makes things easier, but if I find a band before then, what's the point? You can't very well study AND tour at the same time. Something of a conflict of interests.
I have nothing else to say and I really should get on with some actual work maybe.
Bah.
Ciao, fuckers. <3

Oh my GOD I wrote another one! I can't believe this. It's like 700 words which is nothing for some people but seven times what I usually manage to write, so. BE PROUD, MOTHERFUCKERS. Suzie-centric. Of course. I honestly don't know what to think of this because it is VERY WEIRD. Whatever. Title's from a Kamelot song, by the way. Mm-hmm. =3 It's not up anywhere else because I need a beta or three. Bear with me.
Title: What To Sacrifice Pairing: Suzie/Toshiko, canon!Owen/Suzie Rating: Hard-ish PG-13 for sexual references. And gore. Mm. Spoilers: Um. For 'Everything Changes' and I guess a little for 'They Keep Killing' as well. Summary: Suzie is standing at a crossroads, and she knows that she is dreaming. Notes: I don't know. This is almost a character study, but...well, whatever. FEMMESLASH FTW.

Title: Between The Silence And The Storm Pairing: Suzie/Toshiko Rating: Hard-ish PG-13 for sexual references. Spoilers: For 'Everything Changes'. Summary: Soon, there will be the knife, and the glove. For now, there is Toshiko. Notes: Written before 'They Keep Killing Suzie', please forgive any canon inaccuracies.

The list as you see it here is, well, dead. The list as it is on my website is, however, very much alive. Along with the many other reclists up there. Check it out! :D
So, it's the 1st of May and I'm updating this for the umpteenth time. Honestly, when I started this reclist almost five months ago, I never realised it would turn into the great leviathan it is now. Fourty-two fics and counting (and isn't that a wonderful coincidence?). So, I'm going to re-write the beginning, and I've changed the formatting of pairings a little. It's all explained down below.
I've already pimped this over at rec_check, and I'm thinking of maybe posting it - if it's allowed - to a couple of Torchwood communities. You never know. I'm also considering starting a couple of other reclists for my other major fandoms, if I have time. Torchwood seems to have eclipsed most everything else, but I've still got a hefty list of bookmarked fics for other fandoms.
I'm still pimping inthesestones, by the way. It's still very awesome, despite the dearth of updates recently - I think the author's been caught up with work, the poor thing. It takes a while to read through, but it's definitely worth it for the sheer quality of the writing.
So, to the fics:
They're not grouped, according to theme or pairing, because most of them have multiple pairings and anyway I don't like to classify things that way. So they're alphabetical, with all the Doctor Who ones mixed in with the Torchwood ones, due to the large - of course - crossover between the two fandoms.
Ratings range from practically G all the way through to NC-17, although there's no pure smutfic. (There may one day be femmesmut, if anyone ever writes it. Don't worry, I'll warn for it.) I've put what the author's listed as the ratings but don't hold me responsible if it squicks you, please. As a general warning for all the fics - This is Torchwood. You know the content of the show. Take heed.
Assume spoilers for the whole of Torchwood Season 1 for everything because I am not going to go through and list 'em all, no matter how dedicated I am to this fandom. Assume spoilers for the whole of Doctor Who season 27 (new season 1), especially Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways if it involves Jack - and, of course, most of them do. Assume spoilers up to the current episode, but especially for Doomsday/Army of Ghosts for anything involving the Doctor.
And, of course, none of the characters, situations or more importantly ACTUAL FICS are mine or anything to do with me. I'm just spreading the love. Don't sue, please?
If one of the authors listed reads this, and objects - comment or email me and I'll remove your fic from the list. Also, if I've messed up your penname, since not everyone uses one consistently, just ask and I'll change it.
I've been updating this list roughly once every couple of weeks, even though Torchwood season one's been dead and gone for a while; there doesn't seem to have been much of a lag in fic, and there's new people joining the fandom all the time, which is encouraging. I forsee more Doctor Who fic here in the future due to season 3, but there's still a steady stream of Torchwood.
A note about pairings: Romantic pairings look like this: Character A/Character B Platonic frienships look like this: Character A-Character B
[[My notes, by the way, look like this. They're often quite incoherent with love, and repeat the word 'brilliant' too much.]]
Happy reading. =3
( Okay, okay. ON WITH THE LIST. )
So that's it, at least for now (as ever). If anyone has any fics they think should be put on this list - femmeslash especially welcome, PLEASE, but nothing involving Gwen in any major capacity otherwise I might die of stupid - comment or email. I'd rather not rec unfinished chapterfics (there are a couple I've been DYING to put up bu restraining myself), but I'll follow one until it's finished and put it up then, should it still be rec-worthy.
Good night, sleep tight, and don't let the Weevils bite. =B

Kamelot - Wander
|
So, yeah, I know it's been six weeks since it aired, but like I've had time to talk fandom recently. D:
Speaking as a slasher (an' proud, as we all know), I've finally got around to posting my own, trés opinionated, views on what Wikipedia calls the 'kiss of life', in episode 4.
Right. From the top?
There are three possibilities as to why Jack would stick his mouth on Ianto's in that precise moment, and those are:
1. CPR. (As in the mundane, normal, 21st century human type) 2. Time Vortex recuscitation. 3. An actual kiss.
Let's explore those possibilities, shall we?
We don't know what Ianto's condition was regarding, y'know, BEING DEAD at the time (face-down, unconcious, probably in the pool although it's hard to see...could be anything) but I personally think he was certainly alive, but knocked out (well, being thrown half way across the room by your psycho Cybergirlfriend...that's gotta HURT, dude.)
1. This is the only one that can be DEFINITELY, obviously disproved even without any canon knowledge. CPR requires all sorts of things that sure weren't involved in that, including checking airways and whatnot. And covering the nose. Right, that's that out the way, then.
2. Now, this is a little trickier. But let's have a look at the times we've canonically seen the Vortex in action: - DW 1:13 - The Parting Of The Ways (aka When Everything Goes Pear-Shaped, but YAY TENTH DOCTOR). Rose, when infused with the Vortex, is glowing sort of yellow-y. And crying and whatnot but no-one cares about that DO THEY? XD - TW 1:02 - Day One (aka SHUT UP GWEN NO-ONE LIKES YOU). Carys, when Jack is using the Vortex's energy to give her the, ah, 'Buzz', glows the same yellow-y colour.
Ianto, when kissed, did not glow in any way. And given the lighting conditions in the Hub at the time, we'd really have noticed. No glow, no Vortex.
And thus, we are led to the conclusion that Wikipedia is DEAD WRONG. Jack may've been kissin' 'im to wake him up but there was no life-giving, Vortex-y or otherwise, involved.
CANON SLASH FTW!
(Not to mention suggestive comments about stopwatches. Of course. And we know there's gonna be slashin' in TW 1:13. Yay!)
I love it when my ships turn out to be canon. Mm. <33
Now to work on the femmeslash...

Opeth - Hours of Wealth
|
Just rediscovered Opeth a couple of days ago. Mmmmm. I love it when you listen to an album you've had for a while and it's like the first time all over again. Gawd, they're SO FUCKING AWESOME. Go listen to 'em RIGHT NOW. Mm. And my Bal-Sagoth CD has shipped. FINALLY.
Torchwood! Ummagawd! IANTO! AND. Gareth David-Lloyd. Is going to be at Bad Wolf con. ON MY BIRTHDAY. AND I'M GOING.
Eeeeee! *dances*
Lots of Jack/Ianto flying around. S'CANON NOW, BITCHES. Also, my crack!ship of the week - Toshiko/Carys. OR my crack!OT3 - Toshiko/Gwen/Carys. Of course, good ol' Toshiko/Suzie's always good. Mmmmmmmmm. Femmeslash. <33
AND IANTO. I have never known a man to be so fucking cute when he's blubbing like a kid. *squee* And he's a guy! A GUY! This breaks all known laws of the universe. D: Of course, he's more adorable than hot. But guys can't be hot, so NYER. :P
...
Okay, okay, sorry.
I am...writing Jack/Ianto and listening to Opeth and procrastinating (of course) my Chemistry and Biology homeworks. And whatnot.
I have nothing else to say?
Oh, psychiatrist sessions are officially over. I'll miss 'er, 'cause she was nice, but...s'nice to know I'm not officially crazy, I guess. (Not that that'll stop me or anything. XP)
Halloween was fun but I have a huge hole in my foot STILL.
Going to Carri's tomorrow.
